High-stakes Giro...Cunego is preparing for the toast

MILAN 21 May 2010 - The Giro d'Italia's first real mountains are here at last. From Ferrara to Asolo, with Monte Grappa (a 19 kilometre climb with inclines up to 14%), 40 kilometres from the finish line. The very technical descent could work in favour of a racer like Damiano Cunego. The hard-hitters, who must recuperate classification points, will be on the attack, you can count on that! Our first choice is Cunego (9), then Nibali (8) and Vinokourov (8). Slightly below: Evans (10), Garzelli (12) and Scarponi (12). The following are at higher stakes (between 20 and 50): Basso, Sastre, Arroyo, Simoni, Karpets, Gerdemann, Wiggins, Ardila Cano, Petrov, Serpa, Bakelandts and Uran Uran. We're not too crazy about "other" which foresees a breakaway and the victory of someone that has not been mentioned (1,50).

OUR FORECAST: Front-runners: Cunego (9) – Nibali (8) – Vinokourov (8). Outsiders: Evans (10) – Garzelli (12) – Scarponi (12)
